Corwin ‘Cory’ Newberry is a seasoned business executive originally born in working-class Michigan. In the mid 1960s, his dislike for snow brought him to Southern California. The first third of his professional life was spent as an engineer and plant manager and corporate executive in the apparel industry, which included working with major global brands such as Reebok, Tommy Hilfiger, and Polo. He also worked on specific projects with renowned consultancy firms McKinsey & Company and Kurt Salmon Associates.
In the mid 1990s Cory began the next phase of his life building a sign and graphics marketing company and forging relationships all across Southern Nevada.
As an Industrial Engineer his focus was always to look at products and processes and find ways to save time, energy and money for his clients/employers. He is adept at developing processes to enhance competition and help small businesses succeed.
What Washington needs is more people with solid business acumen. Cory will bring the full force of his independent knowledge and expertise to Southern Nevada and Washington.
Corwin (Cory) Newberry was born in 1943 to one of Detroit Michigan’s prominent families. His great grandfather was Truman H. Newberry, Secretary of the Navy under one of our greatest presidents, Teddy Roosevelt and he subsequently served as Senator from Michigan 100 years ago having fought during his entire term with trials in the Senate for what were supposedly campaign finance irregularities when running (and beating) Henry Ford for the Senate seat.
Working Class Roots
In 1948 his mother and father divorced and he moved, along with his older brother Phelps Jr. to Milford, Michigan and remained there throughout his youth. Things changed markedly as the new location was in a farming community that provided great experiences in life. Building and creating were what took up most of his time away from bailing hay, milking cows, selling Cloverine Brand Salve door to door and participating in school sports and theatrical productions.
Having attended Lawrence Technological Institute for a couple of years, wanderlust and the dislike of cold weather promulgated a move to Southern California in 1964.
Aside from a short stint at ABC Television, Cory spent the next 35 years as an engineer, plant manager and corporate executive in the apparel industry. Even after moving to Henderson, Nevada in the mid 90’s he continued to work for Reebok International for a few years, flying weekly to Boston and flying home on weekends.
Making Nevada Home
Enough was enough and in 1999 Cory stopped traveling and started Ad Images, a sign, graphics and business marketing company and has remained in business since then…even surviving the recession that hurt Las Vegas area businesses so drastically.
During the past 20 years he has created strong and lasting relationships with businesses and individuals in the Henderson and Las Vegas area by providing everything needed to help other small businesses grow and prosper.
Cory’s reputation is one of hard work, honesty and integrity having done much for businesses and the community.
Creating Solutions That Work
In his early years as an Industrial Engineer with his education and project stints with McKinsey and Company and Kurt Salamon and Associates his focus was on looking at products and processes and finding ways to revamp them saving time, energy and money. Even as an executive developing processes to make items more competitive through product and process evaluation proved to be his strength. Cory will bring the full force of his independent knowledge and expertise to Southern Nevada and Washington.
The best is yet to come. But Southern Nevadans known it will come from US, not from the government.
However, it will need government’s help and Cory will be there to be our representative and provide much needed direction.
